Kelly Leahy Radding received a Certificate of Botanical Art and Illustration from The New York Botanical Garden in June of 2002. She has been a graphic designer/illustrator since 1982. Kelly specializes in painting botanicals and natural history, developing her style with field observation on location, then translating her natural experiences to paintings in the studio. She paints with watercolors, gouache, and egg tempera, most recently painting with watercolor on calfskin vellum. Kelly is a member of The American Society of Botanical Artists,
The New England Society of Botanical Artists, and The Brooklyn Botanic Garden Florilegium Society. Kelly is an award winning designer/illustrator and artist who has exhibited her work in local solo, regional group, and national juried shows, including the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation Exhibition 2007, American Society of Botanical Artists and The Horticultural Society of New York Exhibition in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2o06, & 2007; and Art & The Animal Kingdom 2005.
Kelly lives on TuckerWoods Farm in central eastern Connecticut with her husband Greg, their three border collies, three cats, and various and sundry llamas, pygora goats and sheep. Kelly also has an indie yarn dyeing business called Mocha’s Fiber Connection at TuckerWoods Farm. Her handpainted yarns and fibers reflect all the colors from her favorite subject: Nature.
